Barcelona is a Spanish city that is very popular with tourists. In order to keep tourism sustainable, a special tax is levied – it is higher the more luxurious the place of stay. The tourist tax applies to both organized and individual trips.

What is the tourist tax in Barcelona?

Tourist cruise passengers must pay a 5.75 euro tax for their stay in Barcelona. If the stay in Barcelona is longer than 12 hours, the fee is 4.75 euros per day.

In four-star hotels, a tourist must pay 5.50 euros in tax for each day of vacation in Barcelona; in a five-star hotel it is 6.25 euros per day.

Renting an apartment or house as a tourist (such as through Airbnb) forces a tax of 5 euros per day.

The tourist tax on low-standard accommodation (hostels, camping, cheap guesthouses) is 3.75 euros.

No tax is paid for children under 16.
