Tourist tax in Rhodes. Climate fee – do you have to pay? Hotels 3, 4 & 5*
Rhodes is among the top most visited islands in Greece. It is part of the Dodecanese archipelago and is less than 30 km from the Turkish coast. When planning your vacation here, you need to remember the new tourist tax, which is added to the price of accommodation.
How much is the tourist tax in Rhodes?
Prices in Rhodes are slightly higher compared to less frequently visited islands, but the expense is compensated by fabulous views, picturesque beaches and numerous monuments. Rhodes is not a very large island, but it has quite a diverse landscape, and sightseeing can be extended to neighboring Turkey – there are regular cruise ferries from Rhodes to the Turkish coast.
The current tourist tax in Greece is effective as of March 1, 2024. The new prices are as follows:
– 1.50 euros per day in a 1- or 2-star hotel (0.50 euros after high season)
– 3 euros per day in a 3-star hotel (1.5 euros after the season)
– 7 euros per day in a 4-star hotel (3 euros after the season)
– 10 euros per day in a 5-star hotel (after high season 4 euros)
The tourist season runs from the beginning of March to the end of October. Lower, post-season rates apply in November, December, January and February.
New tourist tax for private rentals in Rhodes
The popularity of private accommodations, especially those booked through online platforms, has grown tremendously in recent years. Until now, they were not subject to the hotel tax, but the new tourist tax will also apply to rentals of Rhodes apartments, villas, and vacation homes. The tourist tax amounts to:
– 1.50 euros per night in an apartment
– 10 euros per day in a villa or vacation home.
