Tourist tax in Kefalonia. Climate fee – do you have to pay? Hotels 3, 4 & 5*
Kefalonia, also called Kefalonia, is part of the Greek archipelago of the Ionian Islands. It is famous for its excellent weather and long tourist season, and can be reached by plane or ferry. Tourists visiting Kefalonia must pay a tourist tax – what is its current amount?
How much is the tourist tax on Kefalonia?
The biggest attraction of Kefalonia are the beaches surrounded by soaring cliffs. Not all beaches are sandy – some are pebbled or rocky. It’s not as crowded as, for example, Crete, so prices on Kefalonia are more affordable, plus it’s easier to find a secluded, crowd-free place to vacation.
Kefalonia is an ideal place for a quiet vacation surrounded by nature. As of the new season, however, it will be a slightly more expensive trip, as the resort fee has been increased. The tariff change will take effect from March 2024. The tax is charged per night and amounts to:
– 1.5 euros for hotels with 1-2 stars
– 3 euros for hotels with 3 stars
– 7 euros for hotels with 4 stars
– 10 euros for hotels with 5 stars
Private rentals will also be taxed – you will have to pay 1.5 euros per night in an apartment and 10 euros per night in a villa.
Does the new tourist tax apply year-round?
The new tourist tax in Greece only applies to the vacation season, which runs from March to the end of October.During the rest of the months, the previous year’s rates will apply, i.e. €0.50 for a 1-2 star standard, €1.5 for a 3 star, €3 for a 4 star and €4 for a 5 star.
